I just realised I only work about 2 weeks longer – then I’m taking a nice long vacation before Muppit decides to come out to play (We call our baby Muppit because… well we think she might look like a pink fluffy muppit floating about inside my belly). I hope during this time I’ll have some time to doodle a bit for myself, and relax and unwind. So perhaps I’ll disappear from the internet for a while – OR it will be the opposite – I’ll have plenty of time to doodle and write in my blog hee hee.. I kind of hope the latter, but it all depends on how I feel and how sleepy I will be. I love sleeping. ♥

I broke the cord to my back up thingy so now I can’t access my comic “Ghostly Melody”. Crap. I kind of had a plan I could continue working on that a bit during my vacation. Maybe I find a new cord soon.

Sun is shining, that means it’s really REALLY hard to stay indoors in front of the computer. Also, as you might have noticed, my scatterbrain has already left the building. I’m over and out. Beam me up Scotty, if you can. I’m getting heavy.

The roll containing my artwork is sent to Portland – Yay!

I took some sneak previews of the artwork using my cellphone and Instagram.

So we named the mini solo-show at Hellion Gallery “Pretty Shameful”, because it’s based on the topic shame, and being different. Sometimes we can be shameful in a way that is a la mode — something that is more constructed and fantasized about. The harder pieces of shame to digest can be the parts that we are born with. But I think we all have it. And so I wanted to create an artshow that showcase some different pieces around that topic – but painted with love and warmth. We aren’t perfect, we shouldn’t strive to be perfect. (Of course, I’d love to add that we can always try to be the best person we can be — but since my artshow is dipping it’s toes into the darkest of ink pools I’m trying not to be too bright writing about it haha)

Hello! I’m finishing up the last paintings for my mini soloshow on May 3 at Hellion Gallery in Portland, Oregon

The show will have a hidden secrets/ monster theme. But portraited with love. Why? Because I think our dark secrets should be worn as secret black jewels, proudly, because often there’s nothing we can really do about it. Pretending we’re all perfect is insane.
As for the name of the show…. I didn’t come up with a name for it yet. I don’t know if it will have a name. To be continued…

And……. Ta daan! Me and muppit (that’s what we call her) – I’m 28 weeks pregnant or two thirds down the road one could say :) I’m getting that feeling of round and heavy haha

Happy Easter darlings, I hope wherever you are you have a bit of sunshine! Spring is creeping closer although it’s still cold outside. I can’t wait until we get at least + 10 degrees, and weather reports said by the end of upcoming week we might get that. YES!!

So it’s just a matter of time before everything is in full bloom!

Now the paintbrushes are waiting for me, they are so impatient…

Week 14, meet week 18. And now I’m in week 26, but I haven’t had the time to photograph myself so you’ll just have to picture me about double that size haha

Time flies, it’s wonderful and spring is breathing down my neck – it’s a warm and welcome breath!

Did I paint anything you ask? Yes I did! And doodled a little. But I’m getting late for my other job over at Stardoll so I need to hurry now! I’ll try to update with many paintings next time! For now I wish you a lovely day, may the sun kiss your face!

Spring 2012 will be really busy for me, with a small soloshow in May or June – date not set yet, as well as lots of work and being pregnant on top of that.. But I will try to take a moment and just enjoy everything, because it’s all good and fantastic in it’s own way, and I really love to make silly little comics about how things feel sometimes. I decided to share this week’s reflections in this blog post. <3

I’m proud to say my work is in this wonderful show that’s all about collaborating with other artists. I’ll show two paintings, one where I collaborate with the talented fairydust coated Naomi Nowak, and one where I get to collab with the sweet and dark Junker Jane. “The English definition of hellion is a troublemaker, but we think that sometimes you need to make trouble in order to advance. — This spring I’ll also do a humble soloshow at Hellion Gallery. The artwork will be about A3 size and follow a theme I’ve been having an itch to create for quite some time now… Can you guess? I might have mentioned it before. ;) I won’t be able to make it there personally due to my pregnancy – but I’m pretty sure Matt will make sure there are many interesting and lovely people there – and of course I’ll make sure the art is worth stopping by for too, hee hee!

Okay, so I have been splashing out a little today – I got myself a nerdy scarf, nerdy new tights, a nerdy shirt — and SUPER nerdy cyber sami shoes – all comfortable and cosy! ♥ and most of it in brick red/brown colors (that will probably make me look green or even paler but I care not!!)

Why the shopping this sunny cool Sunday? No why am I asking why – of course I can – I’ve been feeling a bit sick latley, as one can do when one is pregnant, although I’m soon 5 months pregnant and most people say “Oh you should be passed that sick-stage now” …well. I’m not apparently. So I had a long nice walk with Patrik and we had some food and did some shopping, and then had more food… as much as I can squeeze down – and now I’m looking forward to drawing – because *drumroll* I’m not that tired! And I haven’t been drawing for myself to save my life lately – but I shouldn’t whine because I love when I have a lot to do – that means IM IN DEMAND BABEH!! -PEOPLE WANT ME AND I’M NOT AT ALL ADDICTED TO THE LOVE AND ATTENTION!!……… ahem! Well why not enjoy it while it lasts eh? ;D Same things with your current weight, age and outift – enjoy it – you never know where you will be in a year or two. Except the age-bit, that one you can figure out as long as you don’t have non existing math skills. So anyway, don’t worry be happy is my motto today! And now I’ll have my bizillionth glass of water for today. Adieu! Will update my website with the drawings as soon as I can ♥

On a side note; Winter is making me sleepy – I want Spring now! I want to have my door open to the sunny green area outside our city appartment and enjoy a cup of tea, while painting…

It’s a new week of bird’s nest hair and that instant hunger kicking in the moment I open my eyes. Life has changed since I got pregnant – but being a chameleon girl – change is about as natural as breathing so why not? :) My morning music for today is Bat for Lashes with their new Singel “A Forest (For Invisible Children)”. I’ll soon get ready for work but I thought I’d share some news.

♥In February I have two art pieces that are also collabs with other artists shown at Hellion Gallery. The artshow is called “In League” and you can read all about it here: Hellion Gallery – In League I’m really excited about the collab show as I got to do one of the paintings with my lovely and talented artist friend Naomi Nowak and we’ve always been talking about painting something together. I also collab with the fabulous Junker Jane, whom I’ve never met but I love her paintings and hand made dolls. I can’t wait to see the finished result, I wonder if it will be in 2D or 3D?

♥I’ll also squeeze in a smaller solo show this year, also at Hellion Gallery, some time later this spring. I don’t know what I’m calling it yet, or the exact date, so let me get back to you on that one later!

And now I shall leave you with a word of advice….. DRY SCHAMPOO! A girl’s best friend! ♥

1. What did you do in 2011 that you’d never done before?
- I got pregnant! Baby Olander Berglund is due sometime around beginning of July :)
- I got to work with apps. I’ve always wanted to work with games so it was interesting.
- I got my first designer bag (that has a tail! Also a first!) an evening bag by Alberta Ferretti)

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
-I don’t do new years’ resolutions, however every new year I feel inspired to start fresh, be more healthy and listen to my body more carefully.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
-Yes, cousin and friends :)

4. Did anyone close to you die?
-All of a sudden I can’t remember if my uncle died by the end of 2010 or if it was in 2011, because I remember it still as though it was yesterday. I think it was in 2010, so that means no, thank God last year was a no death year.

5. What countries did you visit?
-I didn’t go abroad at all. We moved in the summer during vacation time and decided to rest, enjoy the new place, and play tourists in our own city – good for the enviroment :)

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
-More time to paint and draw. And more energy hahaha

7. What dates from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
-Errrr…. dates……….. got no dates, I don’t remember things by dates, they are all timeless fuzzy glowing memories to me. Getting a positive pregnancy test, twice, since I couldn’t belive the first one haha – that was awesome. And that was in October.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
-I made up my mind regarding lots of things. For me, that’s big. And now I feel very at peace.

9. What was your biggest failure?
-Oh come now. I fail with things every day, I wouldn’t be so stupid that I count them and rank them! Almost loosing myself in stress was a bit of fail, but I managed to crawl back to life… sort of. And a lot thanks to my decision to work part time for a company, and part time for me :) Instead of 200%.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
-I visited the doctor a couple of times because of my stomach, I had a beginning ulzer which needed some attention. Besides that, which set me back for several months, I was doing OK.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
-I bought a planner/diary full of Yoshitomo Nara doodles. It makes me happy. Also I found a faux-fur coat, great for winter, in the thriftshop.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
-Who didn’t? This was not an easy year! My parents went through a great deal, with flying colors; my sweet cousins too and my brothers too, Patrik, Naomi, Nora… I wish I could send sparkling cakes to all of them!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
-I’d rather not waste any time mentioning them here – it’s water under the bridge. And for this year I won’t waste my time on people like this.

14. Where did most of your money go?
-Organic food. For sure.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
-My pregnancy (duh!)
-My iPad!! READING COMICS FOREVER!!

16. What song will always remind you of 2011?
-Skrillex : Scary monsters and nice sprites

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? a little happier
b) thinner or fatter? fatter :P
c) richer or poorer? uhhh… beginning of last year was gooood, I think I’m slightly poorer now

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
-More painting and doing comics (Ghostly Melody is waiting for me!!)

-Working for another company

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
-I spent it like this
24th of December: with Patrik and his family and extended family in Stockholm
25th of December: with Patrik at my parents place with my younger brother in Söderlänna
26th of December: with Patrik at my older brother’s house in Katrineholm (along with the rest of the family)

(I was so tired after this haha)

21. Did you fall in love in 2011?
-in love with the same man, again and again ♥ Patrik forever ♥

22. How many one-night stands?
-none

23. What was your favourite TV program?
-What not to wear on BBC – it’s easy and fun and requires zero braincells to watch

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
-haha hate is such a strong word! not really, but I’ve grown to known some people aren’t what I thought they would be

25. What was the best book you read?
-I read too little books and too many comics. I devour comics. Best one though is hard to say. “Silver” was really sticking out, about the heartbroken fat girl who becomes a monster beauty.

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
-I rediscovered electronica and techno, imagine that.

27. What did you want and get?
-An iPad!!

28. What did you want and did not get?
- I don’t usually ask for things… and I don’t know if there is anything out there that I “need”.

29. What was your favourite film of this year?
-The Aviator

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
-I turned 30, I was dressed in a sloppy lumberjack shirt, had Patrik’s parents and my parents and brothers and family over for hot dogs and cake. Very glam haha

31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
- Money; so I could sleep more and work less, same goes for Patrik. We need some time off :)

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
-Nerdy librarian with Cyndi Lauper dreams

33. What kept you sane?
-Patrik and my “working-part-time-time out” :)

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
-Woody Allen. But I have to admit I’m not a person who gets very star struck, but he really caught my attention in 2011. Brilliant awkward man.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
-Food and consumerism. I’m so upset we basically eat poison if we don’t make careful and consious decisions on what to eat… and consume as though our lives depended on it.

36. Who did you miss?
-My grandma, so I had to visit her. I’m usually very patient (and a bit of a hermit!), and time flies anyways so all of a sudden your lovely friends or family are all together again! So I seldom REALLY miss anyone, but it’s not because I don’t like them, my inner watch is very very slow.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
-A lot of lovely people… I’m thinking about the artist LOK and his wife, lovely people and very fun to meet an older, wiser more established artist… and someone who knows what I’m talking about!!

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011.
-It was more a confirmation of something I first heard in 2008, or was it 2009? I was in San Fran, had left after meeting some new lovely artist friends in LA, and I had a bit of a worry… Then the phone rang and the artist Gary Baseman was shouting in my ear; YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE! NEVER FORGET!! And this year, 2011, I started to live as I preach, after hearing it from Gary. I dared to be different, work differently, and take destiny into my own hands. Leaving me happier, more rested, and more sure of what I wanted! :)

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Another lovely weekend has passed. I got my hands on a yellow metallic tea-pot from the 60′s on an antique event – of course I had to purchase new black tea to go with my new old tea pot! After listening to The Beatles and Blackmore’s Night all evening I started drawing and it was kind of hard to stop… so here’s the fairytale-crop of the weekend! I hope you will enjoy it! <3

During a late night with plenty of tea and lost and found cd’s “Swampfindings” was created

Oh my, got a real bad cold, my nose is all red and I sound terrible when I speak! But I thought I should share some images of what my new home look like since I love it soo much! Also I made a doodle this morning while I was sipping coffee trying to muster up to go to work (which I two hours later realised was just silly and went back home)

I really want to record another vlog soon, so stay tuned and come draw with me! <3

I have some color pens I really like, they are MUJI gel pens and the same kind I used for the color pen doodles I posted earlier. This morning was one of my best mornings ever. I woke up when my fiancée was in the shower and realised I didn’t have to get up. But I turned on the lights (my bedside lamp spreads a really cozy golden light) and picked up my iPad and read the newspapers online. Had to put on my glasses because my morning eyes are really bad. And there it was – I felt so happy. I went to the kitchen and made some coffee, crawled back to bed with some coffee, and kept on reading. Of course my head can only tolerate that much of news, I had to switch to comics and blogs when it gets too depressing. But I do enjoy catching up what’s happening in the world.

On his way to work Patrik kissed me and said; and now don’t you dare not enjoy this wonderful day! There’s nothing you HAVE to do. You just enjoy, you deserve it!

And I smiled. And I went back to bed, read for a bit longer, had a second cup of coffee, and then made a little Vlog. And it’s only 10 and I feel more rested than I’ve done in ages. I even want to paint a little, and draw. But we’ll see, time is no longer pressing. Cutting down on the hours I work for Stardoll was great for me, so I have more time for my own projects and my friends and family. I guess you can’t work 2 jobs for too long or you go bananas :)

I have some freelancing I have to do, but it’s not huge projects.

Btw I look like a tired drunk 100 year old dog in the preview of my Vlog but whaddayagonnado? haha

Now this was convenient, considering I’m just digging up old doodles lately. It’s so that I don’t have to think, and for you to be amused for a little longer. Don’t worry, I’ll write more next time! :)

It’s hard for me to live without my little shrine of precious things to me – such as the wooden bunnies I found at Yasuragi Spa when I was there with my mother and couldn’t relax but was thinking about Patrik all the time. Or the mushroom dotted Friends-With-You plastic toy that my lovely inspiring friend Liz bought for me when I was visiting her in San Francisco (they where wrapped up in boxes and we didn’t know which one we would get – turns out I got a really rare one!!). Or the cute greeting kitty cat holding the glass ball that Vincent – my dear Hong Kong friend brought with him upon visiting me back in 2000. We had such a cold winter but he was a trooper! And that rooster is a little bit crazy I must admit, it’s not really kawaii och kitch, but it’s the last thing my grandmother gave me before she died so of course, I cherish it until I die!

I have new legwarmers and will make myself a cup of herbal tea and go draw on my bed now. I sleep less and less but I really want to enjoy every second of this vacation I’m having, which is now running out on me. Wish I had more time to draw. And watch the moon. And drink tea. And coffee. And breathe. But hey. Life is good, and it’s my job to tweak it further to the better ;)

I want to tell you about this Silvernail Tuesday. It began with an almost uncomfortable morning — Coffee, and then the ghostly stress whispering in my ear that my vacation will soon be over for this time. I didn’t have time to paint. I didn’t finish that one project I wanted to finish yet. I didn’t storyboard that book I’m working on.
Sort of saved by the bell – Alma and Lina rang me and we had lunch, OH I love vacation but OH I miss my creative girls and our crazy babble! Then after our lunch I followed them so far I could without letting work seep into my soul (upon seeing the building where I work I had to excuse myself), and I hurried home back to my vacation bubble! I found a nailpolish which is uber metallic and painted it very lightly onto my nails and felt a little bit better. Now Kula Shaker is booming out of my speakers and I’m off to light an incense-stick (Nag Champa) as proof I don’t have to get up early and work tomorrow. I might carry the last boxes to the storage room but that’s it. And then I can blog about it. And you – you can enjoy these doodles for now. Yay! They are old. No! But I will draw more! Yay again!

In my illustrator/design job at Stardoll I also started working with apps. Cut it! is my first app I’ve been involved with – and it’s mostly using the graphics I’ve created from scratch for Stardoll (logo, some fabrics you cut, and some GUI and interface design is made by the lovely Lina Hansson). The favourite screen I did for Cut It! (if you ask me) was the High Score happy Sunnybunny screen haha. It has glitter all over the place and it almost screams; YES! KEEP GOING! YOU CAN DO IT! ONE MORE LEVEL!

I grew up reading “Lyckoslanten”, and to be able to illustrate for this children’s magazine is sort of feeling the joy of going full circle. I made this illustration for a quiz regarding how much people charge for comics these days. I love being able to stretch out and try different styles in drawing, and Lyckoslanten don’t mind me doing so :)

I got some luvin in Åre Magazine for illustrating these chocolate labels for Åre Chokladfabrik.

Super girly fierce coffee table book “Pink Attitude” is published by Happy Books in Italy. I was happy to be one of the featured women in it. I was even happier as I realised I needed to go to the opening night in Rome and hang out with the writers and other art ladies for the book launch. Sometimes my job is GREAT! And remember; Pink is not a color – it’s an attitude ;) (Wow I was so blonde back then… ah…. time flies)

Here’s a feature in Cap & Design no 6, 2009

I made the Ride of Hope and Spin of Hope logo. That’s right, I sometimes make things non profit too, like this project that works along side with Swedish Barncancer fonden – funding for children with cancer. The idea is that people sign up and pay up for joining the Ride of Hope race on bicycle, and by doing so contributing to the sick children.
People can have fun and exercise, gaining nothing but karma.

In May 2011 I had the honor of working with the fantastic mr Krasenstein at Friends of Leon gallery, setting up my first solo show called “Girls and Ghosts”. It was up during fashionweek in Sydney, Australia and I was amazed at how Australia opened up it’s arms for my art.

I did an interview for DPI magazine issue 128, they are so sweet! I had great fun answering their questions.

I was in an interview with IdN magazine and I had the opportunity to show off some of my darker works. Unfortunately throughout the interview they mixed up my name so here and there it says Niklas Lundberg (he was in the interview before me, I bet someone left the mocked up text and forgot about it eh?). But it’s a lovely magazine nevertheless and it was great fun philosophising about art.

I love Artnews magazine. Upon the buzz before the “Clowns” group artshow over at Corey Helford gallery my work was seen in Artnews magazine.

Norway’s and Hollywood’s own make-up star Jan Thomas released styling/make over guide books for the Norweigean people in all ages in 2008 – and I helped create the images for 2 books, along with Norweigean illustrator Jan Eric Skappel. I still quite like how the perfume bottle came out.

I created some illustrations for Swedish company Laika consulting who takes care of Söderberg and Partners branding wise (and have done a fantastic job). During my years working with Laika I’ve created 3 paintings for Söderberg and Partners, as well as done the illustrations for their client and company information.

Small feature in Computer Arts magazine issue 163

The inspiring and lovely magazine Computer Artsprojects released an issue all dedicated to the logo. I was humbly featured to give my best advice on how to create the perfect logo.

I was happy and honored to grace so many pages of the fierce and fabulous fashion and art magazine; Taken magazine. Also, it’s hard to explain how happy that bunnygirl on the front page made me feel. I’m so happy I was featured in the bunny girl issue.

As a result of the Pink Attitude network I’m in, and as we released the Pink Attitude coffee table book, I somehow ended up in Italy and had an article written about me by the lovely Enrica Mannari for Mia magazine.

I am very proud of the Depthcore collective I’m in. Advanced Photoshop Issue 79 featured my work “Don’t Pet the Animals” in the article about the collective.

Hello! Did you notice? I’ve updated my website, changed it completely around. Ok so it’s not flashy in that sense it has big banners and such, but I like this more right now. It’s easier to navigate around now I hope + I’m adding this blog where I can upload my doodles and what-not’s.

I work with ink. A lot. It completes me in a sense, with it’s alluring unpredictable ways – always keeping me in suspense until the painting is dry. I used to hate ink because of this, because I needed to be able to control SOMETHING, sometimes. What I didn’t know back then is that it’s kind of neat to stick to your true element. If I like nature’s chaotic structure I feel more relaxed once I’m in that state of mind. And working with things that require 100% control might not be my cup of tea. Or cup of coffee – I drink a lot of coffee for those of you who don’t follow me on facebook <3 Feel free to add, I also have a fan page but I have to admit I tend to forget to update it, I apologize for this.

A while back I created a logo for http://pjaxnorden.com/

The brief was super fun and I got very free hands. To create a ski boot that is also a nerd was surprisingly easy!

I make iPhone cases that you can purchase for most newer and later versions of iPhones and iPads over at Zazzle!
I use this myself and I’m very happy with the quality. The print comes out real nice on the softly textured canvas structure that’s on top of the case – colors came out PERFECT! I have the Flowergirl case and I’m thinking of getting Cry me a Rainbow or Meraid and Bunnies-case for myself next time. Uhh… In the name of self-promotion of course ;)

1. Cover I made for Lifestyle book “Hjärta” (Heart) It’s made in ink and slightly tweaked in Photoshop.

2.The spread for Hjärta – as the book was focusing on the wild adrenaline side of mountains and nature I made wild ink eagles soaring over the silent water with the mountains surrounding them.

3.I was also happy to be able to collab with two of my favourite Swedish artists; Lina Hansson (fromamouth.com) and Naomi Nowak (naomi.se). This is the result. :)

Freestyle Chapter

I created “Don’t Pet the Animals” for Depthcore (www.depthcore.com) and the “Freestyle” chapter. The idea sprung from how humans can sometimes feel so isolated from each other – although we live in packs. Many work in small office cubicles, which is amusingly (or sadly, depending on which mood you choose) similar to caged up animals. So we have caged up human animals – and no one is allowed to pet them. They are there for working.
